On Phu Quoc Island, we once again asked BOWMORE, a Japanese diver based in Ho Chi Minh City, to volunteer to pick up underwater trash this year in 2024.
This year marks the 4th year and I am filled with gratitude. thank you.
Since Phu Quoc Island is still in the process of development, immediate economic development is prioritized and awareness of environmental issues is low.
Kim Quy Island, where trash is picked up every year, has seen a decrease in trash, but on Thom Island (Hon Thom), where a Vietnamese diver had requested to pick up trash, a large amount of tires had sunk to the bottom of the ocean. I was shocked at how many...
It is said that there used to be a fishing boat and a fish farm there, so it is likely that the tires used there were left on the ocean floor.
This time, we were not able to pick up everything, and many tires are still sunk to the ocean floor.
I sincerely hope that education and systems that prevent the generation of waste will quickly become part of everyday life, and that Phu Quoc Island will become a cleaner island.
Although it is a small effort, I would like to take some action.
